As Regional Property Manager, Karen O’Rourke is responsible for 1,498 residential units for CJ Management Company in New England. Her residential portfolio includes Section 8 affordable properties as well as traditional market-rate properties.

With decades of experience stretching back to 1985, Ms. O’Rourke oversees site property administrators. On top of that, she is responsible for monthly operating statements, making recommendations on capital expenditures, rental increases, budget preparation, asset management, and ensuring compliance with all governmental and environmental regulations. Ms. O’Rourke also oversees critical and non-critical on-site refinance processes in order to organize their final presentation to HUD. She also works with property administrators, maintenance supervisors, and marketing directors in relation to financial, mechanical, and resident retention issues.

Ms. O’Rourke spent a number of years specializing in the management of housing that involves resident partners, including King’s Lynne Apartments and Quaker Meadows Apartments, both in Lynn, MA. This experience has been utilized and applied company-wide through Ms. O’Rourke’s establishing of many company policies and procedures.

After joining CJ Management in 1985, Ms. O’Rourke was promoted to Property Administrator in 1988, and Regional Property Administrator in 1996. Now she spearheads staff development initiatives through various training and educational efforts including the organization of annual training conventions for staff across the East Coast.

Ms. O’Rourke is a member of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), where she has been certified as an Accredited Residential Manager (ARM), and is has been a Certified Property Manager (CPM) since 2015. She has also been certified by the National Center for Housing Management (NCHM) as a Certified Occupancy Specialist and Tax Credit Specialist.
